I’m not saying I’m great, but please, don’t underestimate the strength and value of a professional writer. And please, please don’t let anyone other than the professional writer you do end up hiring edit the final text.

You’d be surprised how big a problem this is.

One of the things I love most about being a copywriter is learning about new industries, and boy did I learn a lot editing CM.com’s 2020 annual report. CM.com creates cloud software for conversational commerce. In other words - they create the software that lets us interact with businesses through messaging and chat apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Talk, and WeChat. This was a big job with a quick deadline, but the subject was fascinating.

OneFit is a digital membership/app that gives you access to the coolest workouts in the city. The business is expanding far and wide and they needed a copy style guide to keep everyone aligned on the do’s and don’ts of their communication. That’s where I came in. : )

The top people at Scotch & Soda have a pretty good idea what they want to say and how they want to say it. What I do as a writer there is edit, elaborate and sometimes throw in my own ideas and suggestions. While I can't show you the copy I've written for them, I can tell you why I love writing for them.  Scotch & Soda's ethos is all about getting out and finding beauty in the world. That beauty can be a trinket in a market, a song on a stranger's radio, or a one-of-a-kind sunset. When I write for them I end up researching random things like romantic poets, vintage skateboard brands and 20 different names for the color blue. What ever the assignment, I always leave their gorgeous building with a sense of wanderlust. 

For the past few years, I’ve been an English text editor for the extremely creative agency The Odd Shop.

The Shell Netherlands External Relations team was nominated for the European Communications Award for their work in the acceleration of the energy transition in the Netherlands. I wrote the speech for their pitch at the European Communications Summit in Brussels - and they won!

ALCATEL needed a supportive campaign for the November 2016 launch of their new range of smartphones called SHINE. Creative agency, Like Friends asked art director Marloes Scheffers and I to come up with a few concepts that highlighted the design and material differentiation in the range. The winning concept was built around the focus on young up and coming designers who work with the same materials as in the phone. It’s a smartphone designed for those who dare to shine and these were the billboards.

I wrote the copy style guide for Corporate Financial Advisors, Capital Mind for the Keplar agency.

This is another case of a project I'm not allowed to show ; ( but I can tell you about it : ). Shoq studios was asked to make a film for Magnum Ice Cream about a new rich and delicious product they were about to launch.  Alex called me up to help write the script. The film was shown to lots of grocery store execs to get them excited enough to want to make space for the product on their freezer shelves. 

Raibu founder and CD, Sau-Han Wong asked me to write up the essence of her new label. 

In Japanese Raibu means ‘in the moment’, and in this moment women across the world are feeling their power, embracing their creativity and expressing their uniqueness like never before. The Raibu own-label collection is a reflection of this exciting time as it features original and distinctive pieces that escape the boundaries of the mainstream brands, offering a mix from minimalistic and serene, to fun and funky.

Founder and creative director, Sau-Han Wong travels throughout Europe and Asia taking inspiration from various fashion hotspots and styles, to create a unique fashion label. Established in Amsterdam with a distinctive international flair.

The clothing consists of beautiful materials with a luxury look and feel. Fabrics used include natural fibers like (biological) cotton, wool and modal; a bio-based fibre made from wood-pulp.

My good friend Ingrid and her good friend Ursula decided to quit their day jobs and start up an online gift shop that celebrates their favourite city in the whole wide world - Amsterdam! They sell things like games, sunglasses, umbrellas, paperweights and these really nice walking guides.  Ingrid walked every single street in Amsterdam gathering historical facts about each little nook and cranny she came across.  With this information she created these amazing cards.  There's 10 in total representing each area in the city. When she asked me to translate her copy into English, I gladly obliged and boy oh boy, did I learn a lot! Did you know that no one knows exactly where Rembrandt is buried?  It's true! If you want impress someone with your vast knowledge of Amsterdam, or at least your vast knowledge of your own neighbourhood, Get One Of These Guides!  People will think you're a genious.  You can find them at uandi.city

Lukkien is a creative production company in Ede with clients like Philips, Unicef and TomTom. Our contract limits me from showing you what I've done for them - but I can tell you about it. I write the scripts for their clients' product demos - this means I write the voice over, the shot list and the supers and I make them all work together.
